The Chinatown Public Health Center is a vital healthcare hub serving the Chinatown neighborhood, and this project involves the first comprehensive renovation of this essential facility since it was built in 1969. Operated by the San Francisco Department of Public Health, the 30,000-square-foot, three-story facility built over the east entrance to the Broadway Tunnel, offers a wide range of services including dental care, primary care, behavioral health, and child development. This renovation will include full seismic upgrades and major interior demolition to transform the building into a state-of-the-art health facility. Structural improvements - such as new braced frames, modified pile caps, extended grade beams, and reinforced moment connections—will necessitate traffic controls and phased roadway closures. Site upgrades will feature sidewalk improvements, roadway repaving, and utility trenching, including installation of new electrical service. Exterior enhancements include re-roofing, new metal panel finishes, high-performance fenestration replacements, vertical sunshades with maintenance access, and integrated artwork. Interior reconfigurations and comprehensive systems upgrades will improve operational efficiency and overall experience for staff and patients.

WICKMAN DEVELOPMENT & CONSTRUCTION, as a Prime Contractor, is seeking bids for all trades from Subcontractors and Material Suppliers, including certified/qualified DVBE/LBE/DBE/ SBE/MBE/WBE firms & suppliers, for the Project advertised as: CHINATOWN PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER RENOVATION (CITYWIDE PLA), Sourcing Event ID No. 0000010892, located at 1490 Mason St., San Francisco, CA 94133. General Contractor bids are due to Owner on December 17, 2025, at 2:30 PM.

PLEASE NOTE: Subcontractor/Supplier bids are due to Wickman Development & Construction NO LATER THAN 10:30 AM ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2025, to allow ample time for review.

Participation Goals: It is the intent of Wickman Development and Construction to reach out to DVBE/LBE/DBE/SBE/MBE/WBE firms and suppliers and provide them with an equal opportunity to bid this project in accordance with the goals established and then to fairly review and choose to include complete and timely submitted bids in our bid to the Owner based on cost.

Union Affiliations: Wickman Development and Construction is signatory to the Carpenter’s and Laborer’s Unions of Northern California Master Agreement. All sub-contractors who intend to bid scopes of work to Wickman Development and Construction that fall under the Master Agreement of these unions must also be signatory to these unions or we cannot list them for that portion of work.
